Two mainstays of '90s post-grunge rock, +LIVE+ and Collective Soul, are teaming up for a summer tour that marks the bands' first shows together in 17 years. The "Summer Unity Tour" will play Northwell at Jones Beach Theater on July 31, with opening acts Our Lady Peace and Greylin James Rue.
“+LIVE+ is thrilled to be joining forces with the amazing Collective Soul,” said singer Ed Kowalczyk in a statement. “The great vibes between our two bands on and offstage is something we have both enjoyed for years, and here we come in 2025! This will be a very special night of music for all of the fans; I know everyone is gonna get rocked and uplifted right along with us … come on out!”
Added Collective Soul lead vocalist and co-founder Ed Roland: "It was August 1994, and we, Collective Soul, were on our way to Woodstock. As our van pulled up to the grounds, another one pulled up beside us and out jumped the band +LIVE+. We became immediate friends, exchanging guitar picks with each other as soon as we met. Since that day, the Ed and Ed show has been nothing but pure, genuine friendship, and rock and roll. We’re excited that 31 years later, we still not only enjoy each other’s company, but enjoy playing music. It’s going to be a fun summer sharing it with fans, friends and +LIVE+.”
The two acts last went on tour together in 2008. General-public tickets for the July 31 concert go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. via Live Nation.
Meanwhile, indie rockers AJR will also play Jones Beach this summer. The band's "Somewhere in the Sky Tour" comes to the Wantagh venue on Aug. 8 with supporting acts Chelsea Cutler, Goth Babe, Valley and Madilyn Mei. The presale is on now. General-public tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.
And here's a newly announced show that is sure to tickle baby boomers: Steve Miller Band ("The Joker," "Abracadabra") will share the Northwell stage with The Rascals ("Groovin,' " Good Lovin' ") for a show on Aug. 24. General-public tickets go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. The Rascals, with original members Gene Cornish and Felix Cavaliere, are also playing a 60th anniversary show at Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts on April 19.
