A Depression-era pauper, a prince of ancient Egypt and a '70s queen of pop are all headed to the stage of The Argyle Theatre in Babylon. Dylan and Mark Perlman, the father-son duo who own the theater, announced the 2025-26 lineup on Monday.

"Sister Act," "Annie," "Disney's Newsies," the Long Island premiere of "The Prince of Egypt" and "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical" are the five shows making up the season, which will begin in September.

"We want to provide something for everyone. One of the things we've seen is that families come out in droves, and we really like doing things that can bring in three generations — grandparents, parents, children," Dylan Perlman said in a phone interview. "While we do have some more adult-oriented shows, it's certainly become a very family friendly environment."

The gospel-tinged musical "Sister Act," based on the 1992 movie comedy that starred Whoopi Goldberg as a gangster's girlfriend hiding from the mob at a convent, opens the season from Sept. 18 to Oct. 26.

The sun will come out from Nov. 13 to Jan. 4 for the holiday production of "Annie," about a Depression-era curly-headed moptop who leaves her hard knock life behind after she and her pooch Sandy are adopted by moneybags Daddy Warbucks.

"Disney's Newsies," about an 1899 strike by newsboys in New York City, moves in from Jan. 29 to March 22.

Perlman said he is especially excited about presenting "The Prince of Egypt" to local audiences for the first time (April 16-June 7, 2026). Based on the 1998 animated movie retelling of the Book of Exodus, the show features songs by Stephen Schwartz, who grew up in Roslyn Heights.

Closing out the season will be "Beautiful," the jukebox musical looking at the life and career of singer-songwriter King, who topped the charts in the '70s with hits like "It's Too Late" and "Jazzman." The show will run next year from June 25 to Aug. 30.

Season ticket packages can be purchased by calling 631-230-3500 or by going to argyletheatre.com. Individual tickets for each show will go on sale May 19.
