Kelli O'Hara, who starred on Broadway in "South Pacific," and a live-to-film concert of the South Pacific-set animated hit "Moana" are among the main attractions coming to Stony Brook University's Staller Center for the Arts this fall.
The theater on Wednesday announced its fall season, which will also include concerts headlined by Brian Stokes Mitchell and LeAnn Rimes, and an evening of comedy with Jessica Kirson.
Broadway veteran Stokes Mitchell will kick things off on Sept. 27 with a night of musical highlights from his career, which includes starring in "Man of La Mancha," "Kiss Me, Kate" — for which he won his first Tony Award — and "Ragtime."
Classical music fans can enjoy the Emerson Legacy Concert Trio on Oct. 5, while jazz aficionados can get in the groove with the Stanley Jordan Trio on Oct. 10.
There's fun for the whole family with Disney's "Moana," which will be screened to the accompaniment of a live orchestra performing the score on Oct. 13.
Women will take center stage at Staller several times this fall. Kirson will tickle funny bones with her stand-up act on Oct. 18, while Tony winner O'Hara hits the high notes with a musical showcase of Broadway favorites on Nov. 1. Virtuoso violinist Midori performs on Nov. 14 followed by Grammy-winning country-pop singer Rimes on Dec. 7.
Ringing in the holidays will be Grammy winner Béla Fleck and the Flecktones with their show "Jingle All the Way" on Dec. 13.
Tickets for all of these shows will go on sale to Staller Center members on April 28. General-public sales will follow May 2 at noon. To reserve tickets and to see the complete fall lineup, go to stallercenter.com.
