Nassau County police said they arrested a man on drunken driving charges after he badly damaged a Wantagh house he crashed into early Saturday morning.
Daniel Delia, 33, of Bellmore, crashed into the Gregg Court home at 12:19 a.m., Nassau police said in a news release. Delia drove a 2019 Hyundai Elantra into the house, "causing extensive damage" to the point where a Town of Hempstead building inspector "determined that the home was no longer safe to inhabit," police said.
Delia was the only person injured during the incident, according to Nassau police. The agency said he was "placed under arrest without further incident" and taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Police charged Delia with driving while intoxicated and second-degree criminal mischief.
Delia was scheduled to appear in Nassau County’s First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.
