April Gologorsky, of East Meadow, charged with assaulting NUMC hospital nurse
An East Meadow woman was arrested Thursday evening and charged with assault after police said she punched a nurse in the face, breaking her glasses, after her request for a discharge was not granted.
Nassau County police said April Gologorsky, 47, became enraged when a registered nurse at Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow declined to process her discharge papers — leading to a verbal argument that became physical when Gologorsky “with a closed fist struck the victim in the face, breaking her glasses, causing a laceration to her face and substantial pain.” The incident happed at about 6:30 p.m., police said.
It was not immediately clear why Gologorsky was at NUMC — or why the nurse, who is 45 years old but whose name was not released — had declined to process her discharge papers.
Police said officers arrested Gologorsky at the scene, charging her with second-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
She will be arraigned once medically practical, police said.
