The search is on for the driver of a white Honda Civic who, police said, fired what detectives believe is a BB gun into another vehicle during a road rage incident on Thursday morning on the Long Island Expressway.

Suffolk County police said the incident occurred about 8:40 a.m. on the eastbound expressway between Exit 59 and Exit 60 in Lake Ronkonkoma. The male driver of a 2018 Chevrolet pickup that was struck was not injured, police said.

However, the rear driver's side window of the pickup was damaged.

Police said the white Honda had tinted windows — and identified the driver only as "a male."

Fourth Squad detectives are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS — or, to contact them at 631-854-8452. All calls will remain confidential.
