Hampton Bays' Jonathan DellaSperanza wins Administrator of Year

Jonathan DellaSperanza, of Riverhead, has been named Administrator of the Year by the East End Counselors Association. DellaSperanza is an assistant principal at Hampton Bays Middle School, where he has demonstrated “unparalleled dedication” to the school’s counseling program, according to the association. He was previously a special education teacher in the Hampton Bays district, where he founded a K-4 STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) program.
Michael R. Ebert is an education researcher and has worked for Newsday in various capacities since 2003. He was part of an 11-person team named as 2008 Pulitzer Prize finalists for investigative coverage of the LIRR's platform safety issues.
