A Flushing man walks into a West Babylon 7-Eleven and wins a million bucks.

Well, $428,568 after taxes. It’s no joke.

The man, Ralph DeRosa, of Flushing, Queens, had claimed the top prize of $1 million on the New York Lottery’s Holiday Cash scratch-off game, and got the money this week, according to a lottery system news release.

DeRosa bought the ticket at the 7-Eleven at 135 Route 109. Neither he nor the store could be immediately reached for comment Friday.

Less tax would have been withheld had DeRosa, as a New York City resident, lived on Long Island.

The odds of winning the $1 million prize are 1 in 2.4 million.

Also this week, the lottery announced that a Central Islip woman came forward Tuesday to claim a $1 million winning ticket she bought at an Islip Terrace 7-Eleven, Newsday previously reported.

It's been a busy few months for lottery winners on Long Island.

Five relatives of the Rahman family from Bay Shore and Floral Park each took home $651,000 following withholdings after winning the Cash X100 scratch-off game’s top prize of $5 million, Newsday previously reported. That ticket was purchased for $20 from Ron's Deli Grocery Store on Jamaica Avenue in Jamaica.

That same day, Rosario Mejia, of Huntington Station, claimed a $2 million top prize on the Cashword scratch-off game, according to the New York Lottery. Mejia purchased her ticket for $20 from a stationery store in Huntington and took home a one-time payment of $846,300 after withholdings.

That also was from a Holiday Cash scratch-off game ticket.

State lawmakers are mulling a bill that would allow lottery winners to remain anonymous, Newsday previously reported.
