Amtrak service resumes on Northeast Corridor
Amtrak service was restored Wednesday afternoon on the Northeast Corridor, between New York Penn Station and Washington D.C. and between Penn and New Haven, officials said.
"The tracks are partially restored between Philadelphia (PHL) and Wilmington (WIL). Due to single-track conditions, northbound and southbound customers should still expect delays of at least 30min," an Amtrak advisory said, adding that tracks between Penn and New Haven Union Station have been "fully restored."
A Bronx fire Tuesday afternoon had cut off power to trains between New York City and New Haven and downed wires had disrupted service from Penn to Washington D.C.
Customers with reservations on disrupted trains can reschedule for similar times or for another day, free of change fees, officials said. Reservations can be made by calling Amtrak at 1-800-USA-RAIL.
