Long Island Rail Road delays mostly resolved after switch problems this morning
Most Long Island Rail Road trains are running on or close to on time after delays caused by switch problems Friday morning.
Most trains had resumed normal schedules by 11 a.m., according to the LIRR website. There were still some 30-to-45-minute delays remaining on the Port Jefferson and West Hempstead branches, after switch trouble caused systemwide delays in both directions. Trains were previously being held at stations across Long Island.
The LIRR told customers by mid-morning that commuters could experience scattered delays while crews continued to fix the issue.
At least 10 lines had severe delays Friday morning, including the Babylon, City Terminal, Far Rockaway, Hempstead, Port Jefferson, Long Beach, Montauk, Oyster Bay, Ronkonkoma and West Hempstead branches, according to the MTA website.
Several at each affected line were also being held at various Long Island stations.
Customers were advised to visit mta.info or use the TrainTime app for the latest updates.
