Early morning sprinkles and dreary skies will resolve into a sunny, breezy Tuesday, the National Weather Service said Monday evening.

There is “a slight chance” that some rain will carry over from Monday’s thunderous stormy weather into Tuesday, said meteorologist John Cristantello with the weather service’s Upton office. Up to two inches of rain were forecast to drop Monday evening, but precipitation should cease by 8 a.m. Tuesday, and the clouds should part as temperatures reach the low- to mid-50s. Winds will blow around 15 to 20 mph, the meteorologist added.

Sunshine will prevail throughout the day Wednesday, when high temperatures will hover just under 50 degrees, according to the weather service.

But a 30% chance of rain is forecast for Wednesday evening into Thursday when temperatures climb over 60 degrees, Cristantello said. The chance of rain will climb to 60% on Thursday evening. The rain will carry over into Friday morning before drying up that afternoon. Friday also calls for high temperatures in the lower 60s.

The weekend calls for more precipitation, with a 60% chance of rain forecast for Saturday, when high temperatures will be in the low-50s. On Sunday the chance of rain will drop to 50% and the high temperatures should be in the upper 50s.
