Snow is arriving Friday, and the National Weather Service says this system might be one to keep an eye on.

"Light snow is forecast Friday through Saturday. While snow amounts are mostly near a half-inch to 1 inch, these snow amounts could trend up a few inches in subsequent forecasts if low pressure turns out to be stronger and relatively closer to the coast than forecast," the weather service said in an advisory Thursday evening.

"Impacts are possible with slippery travel Friday especially north and west of NYC and for the entire area on Saturday," the advisory said.

The snow is likely to mix with rain during the day Friday, meteorologist Dominic Ramunni said, but cold air will work into the area Friday night, possibly bringing snow showers into Saturday morning before conditions dry out for the weekend.

Temperatures are then expected to fall sharply. Friday's high is expected to be around 40, with a low of 31 and wind chills between 25 and 30 degrees. Saturday will only reach the 30s with a low of 16 at night and winds up to 14 mph.

Sunday will be one of the coldest days all season, with highs in the upper 20s. With the wind chill, and gusts of up to 20 mph, it will feel more like in the teens, Ramunni said. The low at night will be about 13 degrees.

"If you know you're going out this weekend, you're going to want to bundle up. It is typical winter cold," Ramunni said. "Be aware of your own safety and make sure you're properly dressed in layers. Spend some time indoors and warm up if you're spending duration outdoors."
