Hold parents with fake vax docs liable
It’s gratifying that another alleged vaccine fraudster has been unmasked [“Charges in vax records forgery,” News, April 2].
Why, though, haven’t there been indictments of the parents of the children who submitted the fraudulent vaccination forms? I pose the same question about the parents in the two earlier cases with fraud on a massive scale involving more than 100 Long Island schools.
It’s mystifying that authorities are still deciding whether to levy fines against Julie DeVuono, the nurse who falsified more than 1,500 pediatric vaccinations during a devastating pandemic. What in the name of justice and public health is taking so long to reach what should be a foregone conclusion, not only as a penalty for DeVuono’s duplicity but as a deterrent to other potential malefactors?
Do we need an unnecessary death? Especially now, with an apparent anti-vaxxer as secretary of Health and Human Services, a hard line needs to be drawn against those who willfully put the health of our children at risk for monetary or ideological reasons.
Those who disobey society’s rules ought to pay a price for acting recklessly. If they don’t pay, why go through the pantomime of enacting legislation?

Minibuses could link LIRR to MacArthur
Here’s the easiest and cheapest solution to connecting the Long Island Rail Road to passenger terminals at Long Island MacArthur Airport [“New MacArthur terminal sought,” Our Towns, April 8].
I drove a minibus for the Town of Islip for 12 years. For a small investment, the town could provide free transportation to and from the airport with dedicated buses from the Ronkonkoma station. A bus lane could be built around the airport perimeter.
This is a better idea than spending millions to build a connection that — at least in the short run — would be underutilized.
