Long Island boys and girls basketball's Hardwood Heroes
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Annie Kiernan, Sacred Heart: She had 29 points and 10 rebounds in a 62-29 win over Kellenberg in the CHSAA quarterfinal.
Ava Meyn, Bayport-Blue Point: She had 24 points in a 59-47 win over Mount Sinai in the Suffolk Class A semifinal.
Caroline Little, Mattituck: She scored 12 points, added nine rebounds and had three assists in a 42-29 win over Babylon to capture the Suffolk Class B title.
Kate Nelmes, Syosset: She was the catalyst for the Syosset offense in a 49-44 win over defending champion Baldwin in the Nassau Class AAA final. She also had eight rebounds, three steals and four assists.
Emma Ryan, St. John the Baptist: She had 20 points and 11 rebounds in a 59-53 win over St. Dominic in the CHSAA quarterfinal.
Autumn Simon, Bellport: She scored 18 points in a 54-43 win over top-seeded Half Hollow Hills East in a Suffolk Class AA semifinal.
Charlotte Viola, East Meadow:: She had 19 points in a 60-25 win over MacArthur in the Nassau Class AA semifinal.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Jagger Bascombe, St. Mary’s: He had 26 points, 11 rebounds, five steals, four blocks and three assists in a 74-59 win in a CHSAA quarterfinal.
Lorenzo Crilly, Smithtown Christian: He scored all 14 of his points after halftime in a 60-45 win over Bridgehampton in the Suffolk Class D championship.
Sincere McDougal, Babylon: He had 24 points and seven assists in a 55-47 win over Mattituck in the Suffolk Class B semifinal.
Josh McKenzie, Friends Academy: He scored 12 points and added 10 rebounds in a 55-49 win over North Shore to win the Nassau Class A final.
Luke Seltzer, Pierson: He had 23 points in a 53-39 win over Babylon in the Suffolk Class B championship.
Jawuan Smith, Floyd: He had 19 points and 10 rebounds in a 68-41 win over Northport in the Suffolk Class AAA semifinal.
Vasilis Triantafyllou, North Shore: He scored 10 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter and had 13 rebounds in a 47-39 win over Cold Spring Harbor in the Nassau Class A semifinal.
Eyan Valadez, Friends Academy: The freshman scored 22 points, including seven in the fourth quarter, in a 55-52 win over Floral Park in the Nassau Class A semifinal.
Nicolas Vieux, St. Anthony’s: He scored 26 points and made five three-pointers in a 70-54 win over Holy Trinity.
Carter Wilson, Bay Shore: He grabbed an offensive rebound and hit the winning layup with 1.4 seconds left in a 49-47 win over Commack in the Suffolk Class AAA semifinal.
