Newsday's Top 25 boys golfers for the fall 2022 season
Newsday's annual list of the top 25 high school boys golfers on Long Island for the fall season, listed alphabetically.
Colby Baran, Riverhead, Fr.
Baran tied for 10th at the Suffolk individual tournament with a 160 as an eighth-grader.
Brian Bason, Levittown District, Jr.
He had a 3.66 handicap and was ranked eighth in Nassau County as a sophomore.
Zach Berger, Westhampton, Fr.
Berger tied for 17th at the Suffolk County championship with a 162 as an eighth-grader.
Brian Berkery, Garden City, Sr.
Berkery had a 6.32 handicap and led Garden City to a Nassau Conference V title as a junior.
Liam Blackmore, Southampton, Jr.
He tied for 11th place at last year’s Suffolk individual tournament with a 161 total score.
Jack Breutsch, Center Moriches, Sr.
Breutsch tied for third in last year’s Suffolk individual tournament with a 153 two-day score. He tied for 20th at the state public school tournament with a 152 and made four birdies and an eagle in his 4-over 76 second round.
Spencer Cohen, Roslyn, Fr.
Cohen averaged a 36 per nine holes with a 4.75 handicap as an eighth-grader.
AJ Dahlk, Harborfields, Jr.
He shot a 156 to place fifth at last year’s Suffolk County championship. Dahlk shot a 158 at the state public school tournament, including a 4-over 76 second round.
Spencer Davis, South Side, Sr.
Davis had a 5.8 handicap and was ranked 23rd in Nassau as a junior.
Broden Douglas, Northport, Soph.
He tied for 11th with a 161 at last year’s Suffolk individual tournament. Douglas finished fifth in the tournament as an eighth-grader.
Padruig Douglas, Northport, Sr.
He won last year’s Suffolk individual title with a 6-over 150 two-day score at Smithtown Landing. Douglas shot a 1-over 73 on the first day of the tournament.
Kevin Erster, Floral Park, Jr.
Erset had a 6.07 handicap as a sophomore and was ranked 25th in Nassau.
Jack Estrella, Friends Academy, Jr.
Estrella placed third with a 3-over 145 total score at the Nassau individual spring tournament at Bethpage Red and Blue. He helped Friends Academy win the county and Long Island team titles.
Grant Faber, Hauppauge, Sr.
He shot a 161 to tie for 11th place at the Suffolk individual tournament as a junior.
Shane Fuchs, Ward Melville, Jr.
He shot a 160 to tie for 10th place at the Suffolk County championship as a sophomore. He shot a 5-over 77 on the second day of the tournament at Smithtown Landing.
Gavin Girard, Ward Melville, Sr.
Girard tied for sixth at the Suffolk County championship last year with a 157 and led Ward Melville to the team title.
Nico Horan-Puglia, East Hampton, Jr.
He placed ninth as a sophomore in the Suffolk individual tournament with a 158.
Owen Jessop, Westhampton, Soph.
He tied for sixth as a freshman in the Suffolk individual tournament with a 157.
Theo Jones, Roslyn, Sr.
He had a 3.9 handicap and averaged a 36 per nine holes as a junior.
Ethan Kalenderian, Locust Valley, Sr.
Kalenderian had a zero handicap and was ranked 11th in Nassau last fall.
Quinn Reilly, West Islip, Soph.
Reilly tied for sixth as a freshman at the Suffolk individual tournament with a 157 total score.
Ryan Sapuppo, Garden City, Sr.
With a seven handicap, he helped Garden City to a Nassau Conference V title last fall.
Sean Shallat, Friends Academy, Jr.
Shallat has qualified for the state public schools tournament the last two years and tied for 29th last year with a 154 total score at Mark Twain Golf Course in Elmira.
Reid Walter, Cold Spring Harbor, Jr.
Walter had a 3.56 handicap and led Cold Spring Harbor to a Nassau Conference VI title as a sophomore.
Will Welling, Massapequa, Sr.
Welling had a 2.67 handicap and led Massapequa to a Nassau Conference IV title as a junior.
