High school bowling, basketball roundup: Roberto Richardson bowls 300 for Brentwood
Roberto Richardson bowled a 300 in Game 1 of a 669 series as Brentwood defeated Whitman, 29-4, in a Suffolk League I boys bowling match on Monday. It was the first 300 in program history, according to coach Louis Seda. Seda said that the program is only in its third season and Richardson started bowling two years ago. Brentwood improves to 10-4.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Amityville 68, Hauppauge 63: DaJon Clinton made two free throws with 14.6 seconds left in overtime to give Amityville a 66-63 lead in Suffolk League IV. Amir Dickerson grabbed a rebound on the ensuing possession off a missed Hauppauge shot attempt and made both free throws to seal it. Clinton finished with 11 points and Dickerson had 19 points, six rebounds and five assists for Amityville (8-7).
Seville Williams had 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists, and Sherwin Johnson added 12 points, eight rebounds and three assists. Cole Wood had 15 points for Hauppauge (13-3).
SATURDAY’S GAMES
Kellenberg 49, St. Dominic 45: Stephen Kiernan scored 14 points and made two late free throws to seal the victory for Kellenberg (7-7) in the CHSAA. Jordan Leach scored five of his eight points in the fourth quarter. Brandon Torres had 16 points for St. Dominic (6-8).
East Meadow 78, MacArthur 53: Mazin Ibrahem scored 30 points and made seven three-pointers to propel East Meadow (12-4) in Nassau Conference AA-III. Brendan Cronin had 22 points and made four three-pointers. Mike Kondyra scored 28 points for MacArthur (2-13).
Valley Stream Central 62, Mepham 46: Saige Frisco scored 18 of his 23 points in the second quarter for Valley Stream Central (6-9) in Nassau Conference AA-III. Sean O’Neil had 15 points, seven assists and six steals.
Hempstead 75, Uniondale 61: Ja’Quan Morgan scored 25 points for Hempstead (10-6) in Nassau Conference AAA-I. Ziyair Jones added 17 points and Dwayne Meadors had seven points, 11 rebounds and five blocks. Dameek Horton had 25 points for Uniondale (9-7).
Massapequa 64, Freeport 50: Giuliano Camporini scored 22 points for Massapequa (11-5) in Nassau AAA-I. Brian Kopp added 17 points. Elijah Darby had 13 points and 16 rebounds for Freeport (6-10).
Garden City 43, Great Neck North 35: Sean Leonardo scored 15 points for Garden City (8-8) in Nassau Conference AA-IV. Matthew Liberopoulos added 14 points.
Sewanhaka 42, Calhoun 30: Jordan Tucker had 19 points and 11 rebounds for Sewanhaka (13-3) in Nassau AA-IV. Shalique Roberts had 13 points and Joey Goodman added 12 points for Calhoun (4-12).
East Hampton 58, Eastport-South Manor 48: Liam Fowkes had 18 points and Colin Kelly added 16 points for East Hampton (4-9) in Suffolk League IV.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
St. Anthony’s 49, Sacred Heart 46: Emma Toner made the winning three-pointer with 10 seconds left in the fourth quarter to break a tie at 46 for St. Anthony’s in the CHSAA on Sunday. Toner totaled 18 points and seven steals.
Amanda Paci had 12 points and six steals for St. Anthony’s (10-3). Haylee Ellwood scored 18 points for Sacred Heart (6-6).
SATURDAY’S GAMES
Sewanhaka 31, Calhoun 27: Janiya Grant had six points, 18 rebounds and five blocks for Sewanhaka (7-9) in Nassau Conference AA-II. Aniya Marriott added 12 points and five rebounds.
Roosevelt 46, Glen Cove 35: Shy’Ann Talmadge had 20 points and eight rebounds off the bench for Roosevelt (3-12).
Centereach 62, Half Hollow Hills East 52: Meaghan Grieco had 20 points and 10 rebounds for Centereach (9-6) in Suffolk League III. Hayley Torres had eight points and 11 assists, Madelyn Madrigal added 12 points and 11 rebounds and Alexa Carmody had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Rose Azmoudeh had 25 points for Half Hollow Hills East (9-5).
