High school sports roundup: Baseball, softball, lacrosse, badminton
Chris LaMacchia hit a winning leadoff home run in the top of the 11th inning as East Islip defeated Centereach, 2-1, in Suffolk League IV baseball action on Friday in a suspended game from Thursday.
Michael Tramaglini pitched a perfect bottom of the 11th for the save. Lucas Patton allowed one run and four hits with nine strikeouts in six innings. John Talt pitched four perfect innings of relief with six strikeouts for East Islip (6-0).
Connetquot 5, Sachem North 4: Mike Empaynado had a walk-off, bases-loaded, two-run single to rightfield in the seventh inning to give Connetquot a 5-4 win in Suffolk II. Connetquot (5-1) trailed 4-0 before rallying for the win. Empaynado went 3-for-4.
Bay Shore 3, Lindenhurst 2: Roberto Valdes had a two-out, walk-off single to drive in Cody Capone in the ninth inning for Bay Shore (2-4). He finished 3-for-5.
Kenny Estevez led off the ninth with a hit and scored the tying run on a bases-loaded walk by Caleb Leichtman. Armani Smith started for Bay Shore and gave up just two hits in five innings before Nick Baronian pitched four innings in relief, surrendering just one earned run for the win.

Northport 7, Smithtown East 6: Vinny Staub entered the game with the bases loaded and one out in the seventh inning and recorded a strikeout and groundout to earn the save for Northport (1-4) in Suffolk III. Gavin Smith had a two-out, two-run single in the top of the sixth inning to cap off a four-run frame for Northort. He also recorded the win after throwing 3 1⁄3 innings of scoreless relief.
Huntington 4, North Babylon 3: Harry Uvena had the winning RBI single following a tying RBI single by Joey Perotti in the top of the seventh inning for Huntington (2-3) in Suffolk III. Jibreel Murtaza allowed three hits in 6 1⁄3 innings. Griffin Kanzer had the save.
SOFTBALL
Connetquot 6, Sachem East 5: Natalie Ramirez hit the winning RBI single in the bottom of the sixth inning for Connetquot (4-2) in Suffolk II. Olivia Micheli and Addison Devery each hit a double in the win.
Sachem North 7, Bay Shore 5: Delaney Mathes went 4-for-4 with a home run, two doubles and five RBIs to lead Sachem North (5-1). Brooke Giordano went 2-for-4 with an RBI and three runs. Sachem North made three inning-ending double plays.

Valley Stream South 19, Cold Spring Harbor 18: With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Dayanara Rodriguez singled down the leftfield line to drive in Caitlyn Schultheiss and Tatiana Rossello with the tying and winning runs for Valley Stream South (2-3) in a Nassau VII/VIII crossover. Mya Miller homered earlier in the game and Arianna Riso had four RBIs to help Valley Stream South rally back after falling behind 13-3. Sia Anagnostopoulos and Olivia Cacaro both homered for Cold Spring Harbor (1-5).
Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK 4, Island Trees 2: Leyla Elkhatib hit the winning two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning after Ava Frangas’ leadoff single for Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK (5-2) in a Nassau III/IV crossover. Avery Desner had 12 strikeouts.
Harborfields 17, Glenn 16: Bianca Iaboni went 4-for-6 with a grand slam, eight RBIs and four runs to lead Harborfields (2-4) in non-league. Lena Altomare also went 4-for-6 with a triple and two RBIs and Olivia Rumore had three hits and three RBIs.

Connetquot 11, Ward Melville 10: Logan Cordes scored the winning goal off an assist from A.J. Jeffares in overtime for Connetquot (3-2) in Suffolk I. Jeffares won 23 of 25 faceoffs and added a goal and four assists. Carson Turissini had six goals.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Huntington 9, Northport 8: Grace Gordon’s fifth goal came with 58.9 seconds remaining in the first overtime to lift Huntington (5-1) to an overtime win in Suffolk I. Juliet Johnson made 10 saves and Sabrina Boyle scored two goals. Kate Atkinson had five goals for Northport (5-1).

Carle Place 11, Mepham 10: Reese Aguilar scored the winning goal with 14 seconds left to break a tie at 10 for Carle Place (2-4) in Nassau II. Madison Reedy had three goals and two assists and Aguilar had two goals and three assists. Sierra Barbosa had four goals and Grace Skulavik had two goals and five assists for Mepham (2-4).
GIRLS BADMINTON
Hempstead 4, MacArthur 3: Rosa Velasquez and Michelle Umana defeated Danna Sarmiento and Siena Wells, 21-17, 21-14, at second doubles for Hempstead (3-3) in Nassau IV. Jennifer Hernandez and Aileen Paz-Reyes added another key win at fourth doubles, defeating Gianna Morales and Olivia Kaplan, 22-20, 14-21, 23-21.
