Samantha Kalinoglu scored the winning goal with five minutes left to lead No. 4 Calhoun to a 9-8 win over No. 5 MacArthur in the Nassau Class B girls lacrosse quarterfinals on Wednesday. Isabella Vieni had three goals, Kalinoglu finished with two goals and Alexandra Aievoli had a goal and two assists.

Calhoun (10-6) will face No. 1 Garden City on Wednesday, May 22 at Adelphi in the semifinals. MacArthur finished 7-10.

TUESDAY’S GAME

Northport 14, Huntington 6: Kennedy Radziul scored five goals to lead No. 3 Northport over No. 6 Huntington in the Suffolk Class A quarterfinals. Kate Atkinson scored four goals and Christina Lauro had a goal and four assists. Northport (14-3) will visit No. 2 Commack at 4 p.m. on Friday in the semifinals. Huntington finished 10-7.

BOYS LACROSSE

Ward Melville 15, Riverhead 3: Stephen Rosano had four goals and an assist to lead No. 3 Ward Melville over No. 6 Riverhead in the Suffolk Class A quarterfinals. Zach Brittman had a goal and three assist, Davon DiFede made 11 saves and Madden Murphy scored a goal and won 14 of 18 faceoffs. Ward Melville (13-3) will visit No. 2 Northport on Saturday in the semifinals. Riverhead finished 14-4.

TUESDAY’S GAME

Mepham 15, New Hyde Park 9: James Henningsen had five goals and an assist and Liam Williams had two goals and three assists as No. 7 Mepham defeated No. 10 New Hyde Park in the first round of the Nassau Class B playoffs. Mepham (8-4) will visit No. 2 Garden City in the quarterfinals at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

BASEBALL

Carle Place 4, Wheatley 1: Vincent Natalie went 2-for-3 with a double and a run to lead No. 3 Carle Place over No. 2 Wheatley in the first of a three-game Nassau Class B semifinal series. Patrick McCarthy pitched a complete game, allowing six hits and one run while striking out three. Wheatley (13-5) will visit Carle Place (11-10) at 4:30 p.m. on Friday for game two.

Island Trees 3, Plainedge 2: Richie Montalvo drove in Kevin Kristyensen on a walk-off single in the seventh inning to lead A-II No. 3 Island Trees over A-I No. 2 Plainedge in Game 2 of a three-game Nassau Class A quarterfinal series. Andre Mule struck out six and allowed one earned run in a complete game. Christian Taylor and Montalvo each had two hits. Island Trees (10-10-1) forced a Game 3 at Plainedge (15-7) at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Massapequa 3, Baldwin 0: Cameron Zampolin struck out nine and allowed three hits in six innings to lead No. 1 Massapequa to a series-clinching win over No. 8 Baldwin in the Nassau Class AAA quarterfinals. Paul Dulanto had a run and an RBI. Massapequa (17-3-1) will face the winner of No.4 Port Washington/No.5 Syosset in the semifinals. Baldwin finished 8-12-1.

TUESDAY’S GAMES

Sayville 12, Mt. Sinai 11: Kate Meyer drove in Rianna Krempa on a walk-off single to lead No. 4 Sayville over No. 5 Mt. Sinai in the first round of the Suffolk Class A double-elimination playoffs. Sayville (15-6) overcame a 9-1 deficit entering the bottom of the fifth. Meyer, Krempa and Delilah Cummings all had three RBIs. Sayville will visit No. 1 Bayport-Blue Point on Thursday at 4 p.m.

Deer Park 2, Westhampton 0: Alana Villavilencio struck out eight and allowed three hits in a complete game shutout in No. 5 Deer Park’s win over No. 4 Westhampton in the first round of the Suffolk Class AA double-elimination playoffs. Addison Patrick went 1-for-3 with a run and Summer Eisenberg went 1-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base. Deer Park (13-6) will visit No. 1 Smithtown West at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

Division 4, Long Beach 1: Emma Robins went 2-for-3 and hit a two-run home run in the first inning of No. 7 Division’s win over No. 10 Long Beach in the first round of the Nassau Class AA playoffs. Kayleigh Shearin added two hits and an RBI. Division (5-12) will visit No. 2 Bellmore JFK in the quarterfinals at 5 p.m. on Thursday. Long Beach finished 7-11.
