The Rangers announced Wednesday they have signed backup goaltender Jonathan Quick to a one-year contract extension that a source said is worth $1.55 million. Quick, 39, a Connecticut native, is the all-time winningest American-born goaltender, and this season became the first American goalie to win 400 games.

He will return to the Rangers for a third season after originally signing a one-year contract as a free agent in the summer of 2023 to back up Igor Shesterkin.

This season, Quick is 9-6-2, with a 3.14 goals-against average, .896 save percentage, and three shutouts. In his career, he is 402-289-88, with a 2.49 GAA, .911 save percentage and 63 shutouts, a record for American-born goaltenders.
