Report: Derek Jeter, Minka Kelly split up

Derek Jeter is back on the market.

The Yankees captain and his girlfriend of three years, actress Minka Kelly, have broken up. Her rep confirmed the break up to People magazine. The split was described as amicable and the couple remain friends.

Reports had surfaced last year that the couple would be wed on Nov. 5, 2010, at Huntington's Oheka Castle.

Kelly was frequently seen at Yankee Stadium, but the actress told HBO in its "Derek Jeter 3K" documentary that "when I met Derek I didn't know anything about baseball at all."

To which Jeter kiddingly responded, "She's lying. She had a poster of me on her wall in high school."

Kelly, 31, is co-starring in the new ABC version of "Charlie's Angels," which premieres on Sept. 22. She first gained fame in the NBC series "Friday Night Lights" and later appeared in such movies as "The Roommate."

Jeter, 37, recently got his milestone 3,000th hit and has remained on a hot streak, helping to keep the Yankees in a tight AL East pennant race with the Boston Red Sox.
