Lindenhurst woman killed in West Babylon crash, police say
A Lindenhurst woman driving in West Babylon Monday afternoon was killed after an oncoming Jeep struck her SUV as she attempted a left turn, Suffolk police said.
Kimberly Pigott, 31, was pronounced dead at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip after the crash about 4:20 p.m., according to police.
She had been driving a 1999 Mercury Mountaineer west on Route 109 when she tried to make a left turn onto Herzel Boulevard and was struck on the passenger side by an eastbound 2020, police said in a news release. The Mountaineer overturned after the crash. The driver of the Jeep, Gilberto Diaz, 56, of Babylon, was transported to Good Samaritan for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks. Police ask anyone with information to contact the First Squad detectives in West Babylon at 631-854-8152.
