Pitbull coming to Jones Beach in September

Latin rap, thrash metal and alternative rock are the latest genres announced for Long Island concerts this late summer and early fall.
Pitbull brings the reggaeton-infused party pop and bilingual hip-hop of his 26-city “Party After Dark Tour” to the Northwell Health at Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh on Sept. 12. For those in Nassau County closer to New York City, there is also an Aug. 25 show at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens.
General-public tickets for both concerts go on sale 10 a.m. Friday at LiveNation.com. Opening acts are Grammy Award-winning rapper and R&B singer T-Pain (né Faheem Najm) and Globalization DJs from Pitbull's Globalization Radio on the SiriusXM satellite-radio network.
Pitbull (born Armando Christian Pérez), who won a best Latin rock, urban or alternative album Grammy for 2015’s “Dale,” released his most recent album, “Trackhouse,” last October.
Heavy metal Grammy winner Megadeth hits Jones Beach on Sept. 14, two days after Pitbull. Formed in 1983, the group’s plethora of platinum albums includes “Peace Sells … But Who's Buying?” (1986), “So Far, So Good … So What!” (1988), “Rust in Peace” (1990) and “Countdown to Extinction” (1992).
The current quartet features founding member and frontman Dave Mustaine; bassist James LoMenzo, who has been in and out of the band since 2006; Dirk Verbeuren, the drummer since 2016; and guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari, who joined last year.
