Canon U.S.A. has donated more than $400,000 so far this year to a leading not-for-profit missing-children aid agency, the Lake Success-based company said this week.

Each year Canon, as a symbolic gesture, hands over a check made out in the amount of its cumulative annual donations — $442,300 for 2010 — to John Walsh, host of the television series "America's Most Wanted."

Canon U.S.A. has donated more than $400,000 so far this year to a leading not-for-profit missing-children aid agency, the Lake Success-based company said this week.

Each year Canon, as a symbolic gesture, hands over a check made out in the amount of its cumulative annual donations — $442,300 for 2010 — to John Walsh, host of the television series "America's Most Wanted."

Walsh accepts the checks on behalf of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which he co-founded.

Canon handed over this year’s check at Thursday night's Yankees game, the company said. The game was Canon's seventh annual promotional night at Yankee Stadium — where the Yankees beat the Kansas City Royals 10-4, with Alex Rodriguez hitting his 599th home run, and Derek Jeter scoring the second inside-the-park homer of his career.

For more than a decade, Canon U.S.A. and the National Center for Missing Children "have partnered to educate the public about the growing issue of missing and exploited children," Canon said.

"The Canon4Kids program, sponsored by Canon U.S.A. and NCMEC, raises public awareness about child abduction, exploitation and the power of photos to keep children safer."
