The Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for Local No. 1 of the plumbers union is taking applications for 100 plumber apprentices.

The recruitment period will end on June 20 or when 1,000 applications have been given out, whichever comes first. Forms must be obtained in person at the union's training center, 37-11 47th Ave. in Long Island City, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Identification must be presented to receive an application.

Applications must be returned in person to the training center, between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 to 3 p.m., between July 28 and Aug. 1.

There is a $25 application fee that must be paid by money order, and a photocopy of a high school diploma or its equivalent and an official sealed transcript should accompany the completed form.

Applicants must be 18 or older, be from the metropolitan area, pass a drug test, take a state Labor Department aptitude test and submit to a personal interview.
