Conroy, who designed homes for East End celebrities, based the four-bedroom cedar-shake of his home on his best-known architectural design, a Bridgehampton house known as the Sandcastle, said Christine Dougherty of Signature Premier Properties in Sayville, who the listing agent for the Blue Point house.
“He emulated this to be a mini-version of the Sandcastle,” Dougherty said. “His home epitomized the Hampton qualities.”
Built in 2007, the 3,000-square-foot house, which has 2½ bathrooms, has a double-height foyer, custom millwork, tall ceilings, central air, natural gas forced air heating and a one-car garage.
The chef’s kitchen, which boasts a fireplace at its center, a 10-foot-wide island and high-end appliances, is attached to a large multi-windowed family room with French doors leading to the yard. A butler’s pantry connects to a formal dining room.
“The holidays in this house are amazing,” Dougherty said.
The second floor has a primary bedroom with cathedral ceiling, en-suite bathroom and dual closets.
The covered front porch has slate floors, and the 0.58-acre property is professionally landscaped. The house is in the Bayport-Blue Point School District. Annual taxes are $18,566; a sale is pending.
In addition to the Sandcastle, which sold for $31 million last year and was known for hosting Jay-Z and Beyoncé, Conroy designed homes for East End celebrities such as Kelly Ripa and Kelsey Grammer. His family has lived in the Blue Point house since his death in 2009.
