'Family Guy' dog, Brian, comes back to life

The erudite dog Brian Griffin of the Fox animated series "Family Guy," who was killed by a hit-and-run driver on the Nov. 24 episode, returned to life this past Sunday.
"I mean, you didn't really think we'd kill off Brian, did you?" series creator Seth MacFarlane tweeted.

In "Christmas Guy," baby Stewie, having destroyed his time machine in the earlier episode, encounters a time-traveling alternate self with a portable version. With the help of new family dog Vinny (voiced by "Sopranos" actor Tony Sirico), Stewie goes back in time to save Brian. The results are bittersweet, however, as this Stewie disappears from the timeline, essentially sacrificing himself to save his best friend. The Stewie already existing there never learns Brian had been killed.
"And thus endeth our warm, fuzzy holiday lesson: Never take those you love for granted, for they can be gone in a flash," MacFarlane tweeted. "Oh and hey . . . thanks for caring so much about the canine Griffin. He is overcome with gratitude."
