Take a waffle cone, coat it with Dutch chocolate, and pour in a latte. The result, #coffeeinacone, has been called the world’s most Instagrammable coffee — and it’s arrived in Manhasset at the newly opened For Five Coffee Roasters for $4.50.

The sleek, 30-seat Plandome Road cafe across from the LIRR station is the first Long Island location for the company, which began as a Maspeth, Queens, roaster eight years ago and has grown to include two Manhattan coffee bars.

In Manhasset, daily drip and cold brew coffees ($2.50-$3) are brewed from a changing roster of For Five roasts — such as citrusy El Salvadoran La Esperanza or the bold Grand Avenue Roast. Pour-overs can be made with any of the in-house roasts, and there are two daily cold brews to choose from.

Espresso, flat whites, cappuccino and lattes cost between $3 and $5, but almost seem humdrum compared with the more involved drinks: Gotham Mocha, for instance, is blended with chocolate ganache created by Manhattan’s Gotham Bar & Grill ($5). That ganache reappears in The Five, a blend of cold-brew coffee, espresso and chocolate served with an orange twist ($5). The $5 Louie combines cold-brew coffee, maple syrup and cream, again with an orange twist.

Baked goods such as croissants, spinach and cheese pies, bostock and churro cookies ($3.25-$4) are made both on site and elsewhere, and breakfast choices include salmon pastrami on rye ($9), avocado toast with walnuts and pesto ($12) and a breakfast sandwich that marries eggs, avocados and bacon jam ($8). Lunchtime brings a roster of soups, a poke bowl, sandwiches and salads such as honey-garlic chicken banh-mi ($10) and a street corn salad with cotija and lime dressing ($11).

The partners behind For Five — Tom Tsiplakos, Stefanos Vouvoudakis and George Kalogiannis — began selling their roasted beans to restaurants and other wholesale accounts before opening their first cafe, on West 46th Street in Manhattan, in 2016. A cafe on the 64th floor of One World Trade Center followed in 2017.

“We have a growing customer base on Long Island, and we saw Manhasset as the perfect jumping off point for the Long Island market,” said Kalogiannis, who is head roaster.

For Five Coffee Roasters is open Monday to Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and weekends from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
