Port Washington: One less bistro
Port Washington has been blessed with a surfeit of bistros, but now the town is down to only three: after three years in business, Bistro du Village has closed.
According to Laraine Dily, who owned the bistro with her husband, the chef Eric Dily, they were approached by a restaurateur looking to take over an existing restaurant in Port Washington. The deal was inked about a week ago and the new owner is planning something entirely different.

The Dilys also own Vintage Port, the wine bar across the street and up a block from the bistro. Eric, who had been cooking much of the wine bar’s menu in the bistro’s kitchen, has moved full time to the wine bar and will be tweaking the menu over the next few weeks.
Port Washingtonians craving a steak frites or moules marinieres can still avail themselves of P’tit Framboise, Bistro Toulouse or Chez Noelle.
