The season of rose wines has started and the tasting room at Croteaux Vineyards has opened.

It's the first time the Southold producer has opened in March for tastings. As part of the celebration, the 2011 sparkling wine from Croteaux will be released on March 31.

Croteaux is Long Island's only winery specializing in rose wines. The "tasting barn" and gallery lounge are open from noon to 5 p.m. on weekends. In April, they'll  be open Thursday to Monday, also noon to 5 p.m.
