Nassau police are investigating an assault with a firearm that took place in Hempstead earlier Sunday.

Police said a 25-year-old man was walking in front of 131 Terrace Ave. at 1:30 p.m. when he was shot twice, once in the hand and once in the buttocks.

Nassau police are investigating an assault with a firearm that took place in Hempstead earlier Sunday.

Police said a 25-year-old man was walking in front of 131 Terrace Ave. at 1:30 p.m. when he was shot twice, once in the hand and once in the buttocks.

He was taken to a hospital, police said, and treated for nonlife-threatening injuries.

Police said they had no additional information regarding the source of the shots. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
