Suffolk County police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a woman in Ronkonkoma early Monday.

At about 3:20 a.m., Elyse Crivaro, 21, was standing in the roadway on Ronkonkoma Avenue at Third Street when she was struck by a vehicle described as a dark-colored sedan. The driver fled the scene, police said.

Suffolk County police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a woman in Ronkonkoma early Monday.

At about 3:20 a.m., Elyse Crivaro, 21, was standing in the roadway on Ronkonkoma Avenue at Third Street when she was struck by a vehicle described as a dark-colored sedan. The driver fled the scene, police said.

Crivaro, of Holbrook, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.

No other information was available.

There have been at least 15 pedestrian deaths on Long Island roadways so far in 2024, according to police. There were 28 reported pedestrian fatalities at this time last year.
