A 23-year-old man was shot and killed in Huntington Station early Tuesday morning after he answered a door knock at his house, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

"Byron Martinez was shot at the threshold of his residence," the department wrote in a news release, which said he was declared dead at the crime scene.

The shooting, at about 1:15 a.m., was at a house on 5th Avenue, just south of West Pulaski Road, according to the release, which didn't say whether there's any known suspect, arrest or motive.
