Officers responding to a 911 call in Hempstead discovered the body of a man who had been killed by a blow to the head, Nassau police said.

Police were called to a home on Maryland Avenue just before 11 a.m. Monday for a man not breathing. They discovered a 61-year-old in an upstairs bedroom with a “blunt force trauma injury” to the head, detectives said.

Officers responding to a 911 call in Hempstead discovered the body of a man who had been killed by a blow to the head, Nassau police said.

Police were called to a home on Maryland Avenue just before 11 a.m. Monday for a man not breathing. They discovered a 61-year-old in an upstairs bedroom with a “blunt force trauma injury” to the head, detectives said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by a hospital medic at 11:03 a.m., police said. 

Authorities did not identify the man. The investigation is ongoing.
