A Selden man was arrested and charged with stealing cigarettes and e-cigarettes after smashing the window of a Rite Aid in the hamlet Monday, Suffolk County police said.

Christopher Martinelli, 43, was charged with burglary after police answered a 911 call from a store employee at 5:05 a.m.

A Selden man was arrested and charged with stealing cigarettes and e-cigarettes after smashing the window of a Rite Aid in the hamlet Monday, Suffolk County police said.

Christopher Martinelli, 43, was charged with burglary after police answered a 911 call from a store employee at 5:05 a.m.

Martinelli, who was standing outside the 229 Independence Plaza store, had smashed a window with a baseball bat and reached inside to take the goods, police said. The store was closed at the time.

Sixth Precinct Police Officers Jennifer Mackey and Christopher Weiner made the arrest.

Martinelli was scheduled to be arraigned Monday at First District court in Central Islip.
