Detectives are searching for a gunman who shot a 23-year-old man in Wyandanch on Saturday afternoon, according to Suffolk County police.

Police said the Deer Park man was shot twice after being approached by the gunman outside of an auto body shop on Long Island Avenue near the Wyandanch train station.

Detectives are searching for a gunman who shot a 23-year-old man in Wyandanch on Saturday afternoon, according to Suffolk County police.

Police said the Deer Park man was shot twice after being approached by the gunman outside of an auto body shop on Long Island Avenue near the Wyandanch train station.

The injured man then ran around the block to a friend’s house on Lakewood Street and called 911 at 3:53 p.m., police said. The shooter fled west on foot, according to police.

The victim was taken to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

Police did not say whether they believe the shooting was a targeted attack.
