An Amityville man who gained access to secure consumer information while employed at a credit card customer service center was arrested and charged with stealing credit card information — using it to make an unauthorized purchase for $975 at a PC Richards store, police said.

Keon I. Carter, 21, of Sunshine Lane, was arrested at the credit card center in Woodbury at 3:55 p.m. Tuesday, Nassau County police said.

He was charged with five counts of computer trespass and petty larceny. He is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.

Police said Carter, while working for the unnamed credit card service center in Woodbury, accessed credit card accounts — using information from one to make the illegal purchase.

It was not immediately clear when that purchase was made or how police traced it to Carter.
