Juneteenth celebrated in Patchogue

Patchogue residents gathered at the American Legion Post to celebrate Juneteenth Monday. Members of the Society of the Grand Army of the Republic read the proclamation that was announced in Galveston, Texas, on June 19, 1865, and laid wreaths at the foot of a statue honoring local residents who died in the Civil War.
