George Sterman of East Setauket has been named a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science based on his advances in quantum field theory in relation to the analysis of high-energy particle experiments. Sterman is director of the C.N. Yang Institute for Theoretical Physics at Stony Brook University, which he joined as a research associate in 1976. He is also a fellow of the American Physical Society, served as associate editor of Physical Review Letters, and authored the textbook "An Introduction to Quantum Field Theory."
