John Lombardo of Brightwaters has received the 2013 Manufacturing Leadership Advocacy Award from the Manufacturing Leadership Council in recognition of his efforts "shaping the future of global manufacturing," the organization said. Lombardo is associate vice president for workforce and economic development at Suffolk County Community College, which he joined in 2006 to direct the college's corporate training center. Since joining the college, he has been instrumental in securing more than $5 million in federal training grants and more than $500,000 in New York State workforce grants.
