MTA hearing on fare, toll hike rescheduled
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has rescheduled a public hearing on Long Island regarding the agency's plan to raise fares and tolls next year.
The hearing will take place at the Melville Marriott in Melville on Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 5 p.m.

The hearing was originally scheduled to take place on Nov. 7 but was postponed because the venue, Farmingdale State College, did not have electricity following superstorm Sandy.
The MTA's goal is to increase overall fare revenue by about 7 percent, but Long Island Rail Road tickets will go up from 8.2 percent to 9.3 percent. The cost of a subway and city bus ride will also climb, as will tolls on all the MTA's crossings.
