A pickup truck driver died Friday when his truck collided with another vehicle and rolled over while they were on the Southern State Parkway in Valley Stream, police said.

The operator of the other vehicle was not seriously injured, state police said.

The two vehicles were both traveling eastbound on the parkway, just west of the Fletcher Avenue overpass at 5:58 p.m. when they collided, police said. The 33-year-old pickup truck driver, who was partially ejected from that vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. His identity was being withheld Friday by police pending positive identification and notification of family.

The cause of the accident was still under investigation late Friday night, police said.

All eastbound parkway traffic near the accident site was detoured off the roadway, police said, and that section of the expressway was not expected to be fully reopened before midnight.
