Cops: Driver asleep at wheel was drunk
A Roosevelt man who fell asleep early Tuesday at the wheel of his parked sport utility vehicle on the shoulder of the Northern State Parkway in Roslyn Heights was drunk, State Police said.
Osman Mejia-Romero, 33, was sleeping in his gray Nissan Pathfinder on the shoulder of the parkway, near Exit 29, at about 3:35 a.m., police said.

Osman Mejia-Romero, 33, was sleeping in his gray Nissan Pathfinder on the shoulder of the parkway, near Exit 29, at about 3:35 a.m., police said.
Troopers said Mejia-Romero had bloodshot, water eyes and slow slurred speech. He failed sobriety tests and was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, police said.
He also provided a breath-analyzer reading of .17 percent, police said.
He is scheduled to appear at First District Court in Hempstead on April 10.
