A Westchester County man was arrested Thursday after State Park Police said he lured a 14-year-old girl to his car at the Jones Beach central mall beachfront by implying he was a police officer.

Roberto Villavicencio, 36, of 135 Spruce St. in Mamaroneck is being charged with first-degree criminal impersonation of a police officer and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police said they were called to the area when the girl was reported missing. She was found in parking Field 4 and told investigators that Villavicencio told her he was a police officer and had her accompany him to his car, where he could show her his identification.

On the way to his car, police said, he made "inappropriate sexual inquiries" to the girl, police said.

Police said Villavicencio was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Nassau County First District Court in Hempstead.

State Park Police said anyone with information should call detectives at 631-321-3700.
