Nassau police are searching for the driver of a car who fled after hitting and seriously injuring a pedestrian in Hempstead Saturday afternoon.

A woman whom police did not identify was in the intersection of Peninsula Boulevard and Front Street at about 3:15 p.m. when a black, four-door car driving north struck her and drove off.

Nassau police are searching for the driver of a car who fled after hitting and seriously injuring a pedestrian in Hempstead Saturday afternoon.

A woman whom police did not identify was in the intersection of Peninsula Boulevard and Front Street at about 3:15 p.m. when a black, four-door car driving north struck her and drove off.

The woman, 50, was taken to a hospital, where she was listed in serious condition.
