Nassau's 911 system restored, officials say

The Nassau County 911 system has been restored less than an hour after county officials warned residents of a service disruption late Monday afternoon.
The county's police department said the service was “fully restored” shortly before 5:30 p.m.

Residents in need of emergency assistance had been asked to call their local police precincts or an emergency fire line.
“We have been informed that our 911 line is down,” Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman said in a statement shortly after 4:30 p.m. “The vendor who operates the system has been contacted and is immediately pursuing a solution.”
Officials did not immediately say what caused the outage.
A similar outage in Suffolk County in November lasted more than 12 hours.
