Three people were hurt, one of them seriously, in a two-car crash on the Northern State Parkway near Exit 32 in North Hempstead that closed eastbound lanes for several hours Friday, State Police said.

Anthony Rosati, 64, of Nesconset, was driving a 2004 Mercedes-Benz eastbound on the parkway when he struck a 2014 Nissan Pathfinder, causing the Mercedes to overturn, police said.

Rosati was taken to Nassau University Medical Center in serious condition. The two occupants of the Nissan were transported to Nassau University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The accident was reported at 1:26 p.m., and the eastbound lanes of the parkway were closed. By 5 p.m., they had reopened, troopers said.

Authorities had been diverting all eastbound traffic off the highway around that exit as emergency workers responded.

The crash is still under investigation, State Police said, and they are asking anyone with any information to call 631-756-3300.
