Police arrest 2 after traffic stop
A traffic stop in Massapequa early Monday led to the arrest of two Seaford men -- one in connection with property stolen in a Monday burglary.
Nassau County police said Michael Myers, 20, of 3635 Tonopah St., and James Ammirata, 21, of 3593 Marinor St., were arrested after the stop at 1:10 a.m. on Jefferson Street in Massapequa.

A traffic stop in Massapequa early Monday led to the arrest of two Seaford men -- one in connection with property stolen in a Monday burglary.
Nassau County police said Michael Myers, 20, of 3635 Tonopah St., and James Ammirata, 21, of 3593 Marinor St., were arrested after the stop at 1:10 a.m. on Jefferson Street in Massapequa.
The stop was initiated after the driver, Ammirata, failed to signal when turning from Carman Mill Road onto Jefferson, police said.
Officers said they smelled "an odor of marijuana" coming from the vehicle, removed the two men from the car -- and then an investigation led to the arrests.
Police said that Myers was in possession of a switchblade knife, three Oxycodone pills and "the proceeds from a residential burglary" that police said he committed at 4 a.m. Aug. 11 on Merrick Road.
Myers was charged with second-degree burglary, criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of stolen property.
Ammirata was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operation of a motor vehicle by an unlicensed driver and unsafe turn / failure to signal.
Both men are scheduled for arraignment Tuesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
