A Baldwin man was arrested Saturday night after state police said he was driving drunk with his 3-year-old daughter in the backseat, officials said.

Rafael D. Ramon, 42, was arrested after he failed sobriety tests and was charged with felony driving while intoxicated -- Leandra's Law -- and speeding above 55 mph, state police said.

A Baldwin man was arrested Saturday night after state police said he was driving drunk with his 3-year-old daughter in the backseat, officials said.

Rafael D. Ramon, 42, was arrested after he failed sobriety tests and was charged with felony driving while intoxicated -- Leandra's Law -- and speeding above 55 mph, state police said.

A state police trooper from the Valley Stream barracks stopped Ramon around 9 p.m. initially for speeding in a gray 2003 BMW X5 on the Meadowbrook State Parkway northbound, near exit M5, in East Meadow, state police said in a news release. While interviewing Ramon, the trooper detected a the odor of alcohol and conducted sobriety tests, state police said.

Ramon's 3-year-old daughter in a rear child seat was among the three passengers in the vehicle, police said. The child was turned over to a family member, they said.

Ramon was held pending arraignment in Nassau County First District Court. The child was turned over to a family member, state police said.
