A man driving a pickup truck headed north on Wantagh State Parkway died Saturday when he crashed into a tree on the parkway near Sunrise Highway in Wantagh, state police said.

Police said the driver was speeding in the rain about 2 a.m. when he lost control and drove off the road into a tree. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

A man driving a pickup truck headed north on Wantagh State Parkway died Saturday when he crashed into a tree on the parkway near Sunrise Highway in Wantagh, state police said.

Police said the driver was speeding in the rain about 2 a.m. when he lost control and drove off the road into a tree. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Police closed all northbound lanes of the highway while they cleared the scene. All lanes were reopened by 5 a.m., police said.
