Syosset sisters Rachel and Jill Roth are brightening the lives of local teens, one fundraiser at a time.

The Syosset High School students have launched an organization called Inspire Bright, which aims to encourage peers to raise awareness and fundraise for various teen-themed issues.
The idea for the organization started when their parents cut them off from social media so they would focus more on schoolwork, said Rachel, 16.
"We freaked out, of course, and decided to do something productive," she said. Of Inspire Bright's importance, she said, "We're trying to create a platform for teens to get involved and help other teens."
Their first fundraiser, held in June at the Woodbury clothing store Mixology, raised $1,400 through the sale of specially designed T-shirts. The funds will be used to purchase new uniforms for the marching band at Long Beach High School, which suffered significant damage last October from superstorm Sandy.
At Syosset High School, Rachel is a member of the National Honor Society, and Jill, 14, is a member of the Future Leaders of America. Both are in the Fashion Club.
